The new issue of Brides of North Texas is about to hit the shelf! Here are some of the features. We submitted a table scape idea for their table scape competition and WE WERE PICKED by a panel of brides, so we made it come to life! We used a vintage airstream motorhome, some patio lighting (not in pic) and lots of rustic details...grab a magazine and check it out!

We also submitted a boutonierre and it was featured too! A little vintage and bling!

This precious couple had a hot but beautiful Memorial Day weekend wedding. Their style was a perfect match for us: rustic and playful. We kept the ceremony traditional and all white, and then changed it up for the reception by turning the room into a fun place to party using gray, orange and pops of owls throughout the decor. Her mom said it best when she told us she felt like Alice in Wonderland when she saw the reception. She just could barely take in all of the beautiful details.

The Dallas Arboretum

Lorin dreamed of a beautiful April garden wedding. Beautiful it definitely was. It was a weekend that it poured down rain, but that didn't get the bride and groom down. They were as happy and in love as can be.

We LOVED working with Lorin. Great style and hands down one of our most organized brides ever. She was amazing. We loved her vision and enjoyed creating this luscious pink wedding for her using hydrangea, cherry blossom branches, peonies and orchids.

Hickory Street Annex

This wedding was all about the details. Kate had a vision of throwing together this 1950's dinner party with a slight modern flare. We got the chance to design this event, do the floral design and coordinate it. It was such a pleasure seeing it all come together. We achieved her look with a unique layout, a sea of kelly green paper balls (used in the ceremony and on every guest's napkin) and soft white and green flowers. Oh...they got married on 3/20/10...and it snowed!

The Old Red Museum

Susie and Bobby had a beautiful wedding on a gorgeous Spring day in March. They are from Texas, but are currently living in DC. They skipped out on the cold and got lucky with some fabulous Texas weather.

Their wedding was simple, yet gorgeous. We got the opportunity to coordinate and do the floral for this event. Susie has a vision of using blues, soft yellows and greens and doing a modern Texas theme. We helped make this vision a reality by doing very understated arrangements of blue hydrangea, bells of ireland, curly willow, soft yellow roses and daisies. It turned out so nice. I especially LOVED the colors againsty her steel blue bridesmaid dresses.

First United Methodist Church Richardson + Heard Craig Ranch

Hayley and her mother were a joy to work with. They were the type of people who walked in your office and you felt like you had been friends for years. We had a blast doing the flowers for her wedding. Her venue was very rustic, but she wanted the flowers to be slightly modern and pop with color. We achieved this using bright green and purple hydrangea, purple vanda orchids and green cymbidium orchids. There wedding turned out beautiful!

We also did her matron of honor's flowers 3 years ago! My how time flies when you're busy and having fun!

Delaney Vineyards

Jaime had a very distinct vision for her wedding theme: 1940's pin up girl meets country chic. Some might think...how in the world can we pull off that? But, it actually turned out so great. We had the chance to coordinate this wedding and do the flowers so we infiltrated the theme throughout the entire event. A mixture of an all red rose palette against very formal black bridesmaids dresses leaned towards the 1940's. An infusion of birch bark, burlap and rustic apples helped us achieve the country chic part. It was so much fun!

Christ the King Catholic Church + The Stoneleigh Hotel

Halah and Marc were married on a very cold day in January, and we had the opportunity to coordinate it and do the flowers. It was the perfect winter wedding as they got to see snow fall during their rehearsal dinner...it was so cool! Her palette was white, shades of pink and deep red. Her favorite flower is roses so we used them in a very understated way throughout the entire event with touches of candlelight. It was a beautiful evening.

What a fabulous wedding filled with so much personal detail! We have been waiting to post this one because Style Me Pretty was going to pick it up and put it on their blog. It has finally been posted there, so now it's our turn. Just to name a few special things about this wedding: 1) it was in Waco, Texas where Sarah and Hunter went to Baylor University, 2) they incorporated a 1970's vintage painted bus called the "Bearmobile", 3) their guests escort cards were named after places that are near and dear to the bride and groom throughout Waco, 4) we incorporated a Polaroid photobooth where guests could pick up their own props, jump in and leave a great memory for the bride and groom!

The age old phrase we hear our brides say everyday, "I don't want to make my girls spend $300 on a bridesmaid dress..." What to do?

The bottom line is that bridesmaid dresses are expensive. Period. If you don't want your bridesmaids to break the bank, then you have to get a little bit creative and look elsewhere for dresses other than just dress shops. Below, I have found six dresses that are all under $100 and are perfect for spring or summer. They are from a variety of places and are all super classy and cute. I think you could even pair them with a pair of spring tights to make them a little more formal and unique! Think outside the box ladies...

We had the opportunity to be the coordinator for Ryan and Thiago's beautiful winter wedding. It was an extremely classy event from start to finish. A mixture of vintage and modern from the bride's birdcage veil and classic Frank Sinatra music to modern decor of berries and branches.
She had already chosen her florist, but were glad she went with one our friends and colleagues. It made is super fun to coordinate. In fact, all the vendors were phenomenal.

My New Year's Resolution is to try and blog a little bit more about other things than just weddings we have done. Those are certainly important, but part of our job is to keep up on what's going on in the wedding industry and educate our clients on what's happenning.

As we are looking forward to spring and summer wedding season, I think it is all about color! In fact, colors that pack a punch. I am loving this bright palette of sky blues, corals and golden hues of yellow. We saw a lot of blue flowers throughout fall and winter of 2009, but I am really loving using blues in other areas of the wedding. Use that as your base color and mix it up in other ways.

We loved doing the floral design for this event. This couple had an initimate ceremony and seated dinner for a small group of people. Thos are the BEST kinds of weddings because you can truly focus on every little detail. First United Methodist Church Dallas + Pegasus Ballroom

The theme of Natalie and Jordan's wedding was simply "Old Hollywood." She wanted the entire event to be understated glamour. It truly was. We achieved this looks with a color palette of white, black and deep red. We used flowers with bold silhouettes like calla lilies and gardenias to bring the theme alive. We had so much fun doing the flowers for this wedding!

Rough Creek Lodge

We LOVED working with Huide and Cary. They have such a great sense of style. They wanted to throw this rustic wedding with a modern edge. They invited all of their guests to partake in a fabulous weekend at Rough Creek Lodge. The only problem was the torrential rains that came down the entire weekend and really put a damper on their outdoor reception.

We threw up a tent, got some emergency walls and worked overtime to make it all work (huge thanks to Livewire Special Events). We pulled it all together and tried to give them the wedding that they had dreamed despite the bad weather!

Parties and Fun: THINK PINK! NACE Tablescape Competition

We got the opportunity to participate in a local tablescape competition in honor of breast cancer awareness. It was a really fun experience to create a table based on a survivor of breast cancer. Our survivor was our cousin and employee, Kendra Russell. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 at the age of 35, and she is currently cancer free.

We created a table around the theme of the butterfly in her honor! The butterfly represents a creature that emerges from a coccoon more beautiful and powerful than it was in its first stages of life. We feel this represents Kendra perfectly.

Laura and Ryan were a precious couple that have dated for forever! It was definitely time for their wedding. We loved being a part of the day of their wedding and getting to do their flowers. Her color palette was pink and gray. We mixed platinum gray linens with soft touches of pink and ivory flowers. It turned out beautiful an surprisingly accented the walls of Old Red very well.

Ryan was a GREAT bride. She was so on top of everything throughout the entire planning process. She knew what she wanted, and she had fabulous style. We've been published!

Two exciting things happenned while we were on vacation.

First, one of the wedding that we did floral design for (Holly + Nathan) was featured on Style Me Pretty.

Second, I got my newest addition of D Weddings and got to finally view the Real Weddings article on Leslie + Drew. She was one of our brides last fall. We planned her wedding and did the floral design. Exciting!!

Weddings: Ashley + Brian
The Dallas Arboretum Camp House

Ashley's wedding was the first weekend in May, which was the weekend of torrential rain downpouring in Dallas. Needless to say, her garden wedding got moved inside. :( Lucky for her, it was moved into the beautiful Camp House where her reception was going to be held. The ceremony turned out wonderful, and Ashley and Brian had the best attitudes throughout the entire day.

The Four Seasons

Blaire had a gorgeous, simple morning wedding at the Four Seasons followed by a great brunch. We were delighted to be able to do the floral design for her wedding. Her style was for everything to be if it was straight out of a garden. I think we accomplished this using hydrangea, dahlias, scabiosa, calla lilies and peonies.

Out of Office!

The A Stylish Soiree offices will be completely closed starting June 18, 2009 and returning on June 29, 2009. We are taking off a little time to gear up for a busy fall wedding season and spend some much needed time with family.

We have been working so much at the Dallas Arboretum lately, and we are so thankful. It is by far one of our favorite Dallas venues. It is not only beautiful, but the staff is wonderful to work with.

We got the opportunity to do the floral decor and help Amanda plan her beautiful outdoor wedding. She chose bright, vibrant colors of fuschia, purple, and blue. The colors looked beautiful against the natural landscape at the Arboretum. Her wedding turned out amazing.

Weddings: Holly + Nathan
Bride's Parent's Home in McKinney, TX

Oh...poor, Holly. What do you do when you plan your outdoor wedding on the rainiest day of the spring season (and I don't just mean rainy; I mean torrential downpouring)? Most brides would cry, curse, and drudgingly move everything inside. But, Holly was a true trooper. She went with the flow and managed to have a successful wedding despite the oodles of mud, crashing lightning, and humid weather. It was a night her guests will never forget, and we were so lucky to be able to do the floral and decor for this event.

It was all in the amazing details that were a collaborative effort between us, the bride, and her coordinator, Emily Youngblood. These beautiful pictures can be credited to her OUTSTANDING photography, Kate Medford with Juxtapose Photography.

We were so blessed to take part in the planning and floral design for Sue and Matt's recent wedding. Sue had such a great style mixing classic elements in fresh shades of ivory, gold, and yellow. She wanted a very formal affair that was super fun for her guests. I think we accomplished that by entertaining everyone with great music, a funky lounge, a photobooth equipped with crazy props and Paciugo ice cream.

We just joined forces with The Wedding Party Studio. It a new research lab for brides to go and learn about Dallas' most creative and up and coming vendors. We are super excited to be a part of this new concept. It is housed out of Blush Couture on Allen St. in Uptown. EVERY bride should go check it out. It is going to be the hottest place to find the best wedding talent in the area!

It has taken us a while to get our pictures together from this wedding. It was such an amazing one! So, we are FINALLY getting to blog about Amy & Jon. Amy had a very tailored, classic style and this came out in her wedding and in her flowers. We chose a very modern all white look using giant spheres of roses and massive clusters of baby's breath. It was sleek and very pretty. We were so happy to be a part of this beautiful wedding.

It was a joy working with Tara and Chris. We truly had a blast planning their wedding and getting to do their flowers. They are a fun loving couple who had a stressful planning experience...let's just say there was a move from NYC to San Francisco which included job changes and much stress for the bride and groom! But, everything went great and the night was a great success! We loved mixing Tara's colors of red and green with organic, sophisticated decor and details! Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day. Shout out to a great mother of the bride, Annette and great sister of the bride, Jenna too!

Trendsetters: Show Your Holiday Spirit

There are a lot of brides that choose to get married around the holidays, and I think a holiday palette of red and green can be totally stylish. It is such a cost effective way to get married because most ceremony and reception venues are already decorated with garlands, wreaths, and trees. You can mold your palette around those same ideas and themes, but keep it chic and stylish.

Shelli was such a special client. She is fabulous woman who is a breast cancer survivor and is grateful for every moment she is given. She loves life and she wanted to live it up by throwing a great dinner party wedding to marry the man of her dreams. I got the opportunity to help her plan her wedding and do the floral. Trendsetters: Going Green

Okay, so I know that "green" and "eco chic" weddings have been popular for a while. But, lately I have been enamored with not just "green" weddings but everything in an organic palette. I am loving mixing whimsical moss with other organic elements such as poppy pods, ferns, and lotus pods. Also, mixing all shades of green. It is just so stunning, whether you are in a crisp white tent or in a modern hotel.

I was blessed to work with Kaylen and Nick for the entire planning process of their wedding. We had such a great time. Kaylen and I really worked hard to develop a unique color scheme and priceless details for her wedding. I definitely think we did that using lots lighting from Absolute Lighting and fabulous linens from BBJ Linen. A couple of details pictured below are their "Something Blue" shot and the Whataburger that we gave guests as they left the party. Of course we did the flowers as well, and they turned out fabulous.

It was a pleasure working with Gillette and her wedding planner Paige Chenault to help create her perfect wedding day. Her style was traditional in flowers but modern in the way that she wanted them arranged. We created interesting arrangements using a mixture of square glassware with ball-shaped arrangements and flowers adorning them! It was a lot of fun.

First United Methodist Church Dallas + The Adolphus Hotel

Amanda and her mother, Trish, were such a blessing to work with. We got to do the "day of" coordination for the bride and take on her flowers. Amanda had the style of a princess wanting to mix shiny "bling" with shades of soft lavender. We pulled it off with success using lilac hydrangea, orchids, stephanotis and lots of hanging chandelier crystals. The wedding turned out fabulous and was a party to remember. I keep hearing that the new black for the season is gray. You might think that gray would be very drab for a cheerful wedding. But, it is actually quite chic. I did a bit of research, and I truly do see the color gray popping up all over the runways and in wedding trends for Fall 2008. Move over black...brides are seeing GRAY!

We had the pleasure of planning and doing the flowers for Gina and Ward's wedding on Lake LBJ in Horseshoe Bay, Texas this past summer. We are so excited about the pictures, and I might have posted too many below...but there were so many great details. Ward is in the local Dallas band called Boys Named Sue, and music played a huge influence on their wedding. We hired Billy Joe Shaver to play at the reception, and he was amazing! Other details to note: the theme of the event was love birds as you can see below. And, check out their favors (custom koozies).
It was so much fun! An event that we will never forget.

Lauren and her mother, Linda, were such a pleasure to work with. They are the type of people that we know we will be friends with forever. That kind of relationship is why we absolutely love this business.

Lauren's colors were chocolate and pink. We enjoyed making her elegant, yet fun vision come to life. We used tons of texture in her flowers and mixed shades of pink from magenta all the way to pale pink to add depth to the arrangements. We used orchids, peonies, roses, hydrangea, and some astilbe for a whimisical feel.

Trendsetters: Go for the Gold

I am starting a new section to our blog called Trendsetters! I have realized that researching wedding trends is one of my favorite things to do, and I feel like I should start sharing what I find with you. It takes me back to my favorite college class called Fashion Forecasting. We learned to research fashion trends and create trend boards, presentations, booklets...etc... So, I am getting back to my fashion roots, and creating picture boards on wedding trends. Here goes...

As I sit here browsing the latest edition of Martha Stewart Weddings and watching Michael Phelps win an enormous amount of gold medals in this month's Olympics, it kind of corresponds with a Fall 2008 wedding trend. Gold, yellow, and orange hues are so hot for end of summer/fall weddings. It's a little weird, but an amazing gold medal Olympian inspired my first Trendsetters post. Take a look:

Weddings: Sarah + Chris
The Old Red Courthouse and Museum

Sarah and Chris were great fun to work with throughout the entire planning of their wedding. They are both very creative at heart and very adventurous (they are about to move to Turkey to teach for a couple of years)! Their wedding completely reflected their personalities. The ceremony was soft and more vintage in styling, and the reception popped with bright pink and black worked into the linens and florals. We loved planning their wedding and doing the floral design.

It was all about details for them too. We created a lounge area, kept the guests entertained with video all night long, and even served a "Sex and the City" inspired pink dingo cocktail garnished with a gerber daisy.

Preston Hollow Presbyterian + Sambuca

Eddie and Kristin threw a party for their wedding. Guests had a fabulous time dancing the night away at Sambuca to the band Special Edition. We were so thankful to be able to help Kristin plan her wedding and do the flowers. Her ideas were simple: less is more. All white flowers and simple candlelight helped create her event. A special highlight to the evening was having the Texas Boys Choir perform at the ceremony (see the last pic).

Trammell Crow

Heather was easy to work with, and we greatly enjoyed doing her flowers. She knew exactly what she wanted when she first visited us. She had a clear cut vision, and we helped recreate that vision with a few minor design changes along the way! All in all, I think it turned out beautiful. We used ivory mini callas, green cymbidium orchids, and pink peonies accented with spray roses to create a lush summer look.

We got the chance to work with the wedding planner Katoiya Bell for Jennifer's wedding in June. She was great, and we thank her for giving us the opportunity to do this wedding. Jennifer had a clear vision of what she wanted and it was funky, playful, and perfect for this wedding. We used splashes of green hydrangea, pink peonies, orange callas, green orchids, and gloriosa lilies. Perfect for summer!!

We did the flowers for Saskia and Wes' wedding in June. She was a bride who wanted an autumn themed wedding in the middle of June so we accomplished this using fall colored flowers. We used a combo of orange roses, yellow crespedia, brown monkey's tail, orange dahlias, and sunset calla lilies. We loved Saskia's whimisical attitude and style! We loved helping Suzie with her wedding plans and flowers! She was joy to work with. She had such a fun-loving spirit and great ideas. Her flowers were whimsical, using accents of succulents everywhere!! She was all about bright colors, and we helped create this look using orange roses, gloriosa lilies, pink asiatic lilies, and orange callas.

They were also all about the dessert! That is why I had to include pictures of the fabulous cake made by Colleen. I also had to include the Paciugo ice cream and M&M shooters. Gotta love it!
